Installing a no drilling required Grab Bar

Posted by:

Installing a Grab Bar can be a real chore. Depending on the surface, special bits may be required and often it is difficult to locate a stud behind a tiled or stone faced wall. The no drilling required Grab Bars by nie wieder bohren Germany mount without drilling on tile, stone, glass, metal, concrete and brick using a patented adapter and commercial adhesive used in the German auto industry. The job is simple to install, even by the casual DIY consumer. The bars are ADA compliant and can support up to 250lbs. Just follow the simple steps and in about 15 minutes, the job is done. No measuring, no tools and no holes! As a bonus the system is removable if needed with no damage to the surface. This is ideal for renters, temporary need such as a sports related injury and to preserve resale value on your property. I have attached a simple installation video which will ake you through the process.

Here are the basic steps:

  1. Locate the desired position for your grab bar. It is recommended to use at least a 24″ bar (horizontal mount) on the back wall of a tub. It should be positioned 33″- 36″ in height. Ideally the grab bar is no more than 12″ from the from or rear wall to be sure there is easy access. We recommend also to install a 12″ bar vertically positioned just above the front end of the tub to assist in safe entry and exit. This bar should be positioned at 44″-48″ above the floor level (to the bottom edge of the bar). You can also consider installing an 18″ bar under the shower head to ensure proper balance while bathing
  2. Clean surface with acetone or Isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry thoroughly (about 15 minutes) If there is heavy scaling or residue on the surface, use very fine sand paper, dampen and lightly brush the area where you plan to mount. This will not scratch the surface but will be sure to remove any residue that could impact the bond.
  3. Attach mounting hardware to bar
  4. Peel protective foam ring cover from each side and press carefully onto wall in desired location. Remove bar. Mounting plates are now perfectly positioned on the wall and are ready for adhesive.
  5. Pierce adhesive tube end with supplied red key. Slide key slot over tube end and roll up. Insert tube end into center hole on mounting adapter and slowly advance adhesive into adapter by turning the red key
  6. Continue until the adhesive is visible from end of the three vent holes located on each corner. Repeat on the secong adapter. Do not try to clean excess glue or press on the adapter after this step. It will be simple to clean after curing.
  7. Allow to cure undisturbed for 24hrs
  8. Attach grab bar to adapters with supplied screws and sleeves.
  9. Slide decorative cover ring over the bar ends and turn clockwise until the cover ring is even and fits down over the end neatly.
  10. Job complete!
