Tracy Owens - The Painted Chair - Feature

How many times have you looked around your house and wished you had a new piece of furniture. Perhaps it’s a new chair, or bench for your entry way. Maybe you weren’t wishing for something necessarily new, you just wished your existing items around the house didn’t look so dated.

I absolutely love taking existing pieces of furniture and putting a new finish on them, re-purposing them and giving them a whole new face-lift. Many times a fresh coat of paint, some new hardware or putting some new fabric on cushions can totally revive furniture that was previously boring or just taking up space in someone’s garage, basement or attic.

You can do yourself a favor by saving some money from purchasing something new, as well as de-cluttering the house with items that were previously unused because you didn’t like the way they looked.

Just about all of my projects are simple things you can do with supplies from your local hardware store, a little bit of elbow grease and some freedom to let your creativity flow.

Tracy Owens - The Painted Chair - Custom Bench and Chairs

Here’s a bench and matching chairs that were revived with a fresh coat of black, gloss paint and new fabric and cushions.

A bright red, matching desk and chair for your kid’s room. New fresh coat of red paint and cleaned up drawer hardware.

Tracy Owens - The Painted Chair - Dresser Turned Media Cabinet

For this piece I took an old dresser and re-released it as a new media cabinet on display in your living room. Plenty of drawers for movies and games and shelves for your audio-visual units.

Tracy Owens - The Painted Chair - Mix 'n Match Dining Set

For this dining room set I mixed and matched a few different pieces and brought it all together with complementary colors and fabrics.

No matter what the need or what you may already have laying around, you can take something old and well-used and bring it back to life with some simple and affordable updates.
